Great Landscapes Awards

Share your favorite Old Escondido landscapes, whether it's a single-family residence, multi-family, or business, we want to know. Having trouble deciding? There is no limit to the number of great landscapes that you can nominate! You may even nominate your own yard. Please, give yourself a nice pat on the back for your hard work this Spring. Judging happens the first week of July 2020

Winners announced soon after via social media and the Old Escondido website

  • Properties awarded may be done by a professional landscaper, but must be well maintained by the owner.

  • Gardens should be able to be seen from the street or sidewalk; Front yards only will be be judged.

  • Recipients may be a home, apartment building, church, or business, but not a commercial landscaper or florist.

  • Properties must be within the Old Escondido Historic District boundaries.

  • A panel of judges (tentatively from El Plantio and Grangetto's) will review all nominations using criteria such as but not limited to sustainability, aesthetic appeal, the use of regionally appropriate plants, and water conserving irrigation.

  • The board reserves the right to disqualify any nominations that are obvious hoaxes.

  • Winners will receive a sign for their yard to recognize their accomplishment. Depending on state orders regarding COVID19, winners will also be recognized at our annual block party in August.

One or two speakers plus neighborhood updates. Please join us - we will offer great door prizes again, too! Held at City Hall, 201 North Broadway. Room name to be posted before each meeting.

Annual Neighborhood Clean Up & Rummage Sale

Will be rescheduled in the fall

8 am - 12 noon

Clear out the trash from your property and haul it to the dumpsters on Grape between 6th and 7th Ave. Please consider helping with this event; we need neighbors with pick up trucks and general help picking up debris.


(This event is only for residents of Old Escondido — please have proof of residency for dumpster drop off.)
