Committee Reports

            Finance  Brita Smith Chairperson

Connie Sue requested a recap of the home tour revenue generated from past tours.

Brita reported that OENG revenue for 2004 was $8K, for 2005 it was 7K and for 2006 it was $11K. While these numbers represent total revenue for each year, not just the revenue from the home tour, Brita estimated that 95% of the monies are generated by the home tour.

All committee budgets need to be approved by the OENG board. Brita will present the budgets to the board at their monthly meetings.

Next board meeting is February 1, 2007.

5.      Doug is considering the home n the NE corner of 7th Avenue & Hickory.

The owner of the Heller home on 10th Avenue has expressed interest in participating in the tour. This would be a good home to consider for a future home tour.

Ambros Canlas on 6th Avenue has offered his home for the tour. This home was on the tour in 2005.

ConnieSue reported that the owner of the newly restored/renovated house at

6th  & Hickory is interested in having his home on tour this year.

Home Liaison Carol Breitenfeld chairperson

Carol Breitenfeld volunteered to be the chairperson for this committee.

Ana McGowan volunteered to create the story boards for the houses.

Carol B. will contact Lucy Berk and ask her to begin gathering the historical information for confirmed homes on 7th and the Bandy House.

Docents – Mayara has recruited two more volunteers from the library staff, Joanne Greenberg and Helene Idels. Mayara would like to have information regarding the docents’ responsibilities so that she can share this with people she is recruiting. Brita has a list of docents from last years’ tour and Connie Sue has another list of docents. The docent lists needs to be consolidated into one list.

All docent lists and the names of persons interested in being a docent, along with their contact data, should be brought the next meeting.

Publicity Carol Rea Chairperson

No report. Due to the fire emergency in Escondido, Carol was not able to attend the whole meeting or report on publicity. We do thank Carol for using what little spare time she had during that night to join the meeting.

Refreshments Lynn Hall and Peggy Williams Co-Chairpersons

Addendum to budget for the appreciation party/dinner was submitted to Brita.

Lynn received a quote from Joe’s Italian Restaurant of $10.00 per person.

The menu provides a good sampling of Italian foods. (I apologize, but I did not did not record the menu items). The restaurant will provide the serving dishes.

The menu does not include dessert or drinks. These can be purchased at Cost Co.

Lynn discovered that Mary (one of the owner’s of Joe’s) truly likes Escondido

and the Old Historic District. She and her husband opened their restaurant on Grand Avenue over 25 years ago and they have two daughters that live in the neighborhood. She likes to support the neighborhood whenever she can. The$10/person fee is a reduced rate specifically for our group.

Connie Sue suggested that a second quote from another venue or vendor be obtained. She recommended Kallee McCreery. Kallee is not only a caterer; she is also a neighbor and home owner in the Old Escondido Historic District.

Lynn will contact Kallee for a quote.

Maraya brought up a real concern regarding lemons for the lemonade. Because of the recent severe frost there is a very real possibility that lemons will not be available or that they will be very expensive. Lynn suggested that we could buy

re-constituted lemon juice from Cost Co. There was a discussion about whether or not we should go ahead with the purchase of re-constituted juice or wait to see how the lemon crops failed. It was decided to delay any decision until the next meeting in February.

Connie Sue offered Joyce’s freezer for the storage of lemon juice.
