OLD ESCONDIDO MOTHERS DAY HOME TOUR MEETING
May 2, 2006 MINUTES
ConnieSue Dickinson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM in the training room #1 of City Hall
Members present were Doug Eagleson, Carol Rea, Cathrine Laguna, Terri Johnson, Kathy Verhey, Kevin and Lynn Hall, Dick Althouse, Mary and Don Nelson, and Maraya Schrokosch.
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm
Home Selection: Doug did a great job of home selection.
Publicity: Carol Rea gave a report on publicity. DBA has a magazine out featuring the Beach House on the cover with a nice article inside about the home tour. They also placed an ad in the Home Tour program. 11am Friday, May 5th Carol Rea will be facilitating a walking tour with the anticipation of publicity folks from the new media present. The Beach house appeared in Sunday’s North County Times, but they didn’t include info on the home tour. There is the 9th there will be another tour by Carol Rea. The Street banner is up on Washington. The history center’s number in on the banner. Connie Sue will post fliers at the Escondido library, Coronado library and at a San Marcos Mobile Home Park. Also 2 places on Coronado Island and at Curves - others will go to east community center..
Tickets and Programs: We’re keeping track of tickets; Carol Rea is keeping the list. Tickets are available for sale at the History Center, Rosemary Duff Florist, and History Center. Dick Althouse reported that 4 Tickets have been sold by mail. Lynn Hall has also sold 4. It was announced that tickets are available to those attending the meeting tonight for presale. Tracy Bass has asked for tickets. It was agreed that others can have tickets to sell as long as those receiving them are responsible for tickets and money. ConnieSue requested tickets for distribution to city staff. Carol Rea shared a proof copy of the program. Cathrine Laguna asked who the check from the Pioneer Room goes to (OENG). Programs are still in the printing stage and will be ready for the tour day. Programs will be at all houses. There is a map on the back of the tickets as well as the program of the homes on the tour and the location of the porta-potties and refreshments.
Photography - Lori Tisdale will be on hand during the home tour to photograph the event.
Docents Docent name tags will be done by Cathrine. A head docent will be designated for each house. The docents will receive the history of the houses when they meet at the house. All needed docents have been lined up and assignments are in place.
Porta Potties Plain porta potties are $80.00 each. the most expense in delivery and pick up. There was a question regarding how much water is held in the wash station. We will have 3 porta potties and 2 wash stations.
Old Cars Five old cars will be furnished. Tickets will be distributed the day of the event. We need handicapped access for patrons. There is a rea access at the Beach house.
Booties 1200 booties have been donated by various Doctors. Joan Meyer ordered the booties for all the doctors. We need signs for bootie directions. We need make sure that patrons hold on to their booties.
Refreshments Tables for refreshments are being taken care of by Doug Eagleson. Cookies are about up to 70 dozen. Snack bags for docents are being made by Lynn Hall and Peggy Williams. Snack bags will be delivered the morning of the tour. Water will be available for sale at $1 a bottle at each house on the tour. About 200 Lemons have been squeezed and frozen in plastic bags with 2 cups per bag. Doug will prepare the lemonade on Saturday evening. Doug has 3 pitchers
A phone list was passed around to collect contact phone numbers for the day of the tour. Kevin Hall will type it up and distribute.
Recommendation for gifts for the homeowners will come before the board of directors tomorrow night.
