OLD ESCONDIDO MOTHERS DAY HOME TOUR MEETING
APRIL 4, 2006 MINUTES
ConnieSue Dickinson called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM at the Circle of Quiet Bed and Breakfast.
Members present were Doug Eagleson, Carol Rea, Peggy Williams, Cathrine Laguna, Lori Tilsdale, Kevin and Lynn Hall, and Maraya Schrokosch.
ConnieSue went through the Home Tour Planning Guide Sheet. It seems we are pretty much on track. The next "Neighborhood General Meeting" is Thursday, April 13. Cathrine will be presenting her program
"Escondido: Then and Now". Meeting will start at 7:00 PM.
The following subcommittee reports were given:
DOCENTS: Cathrine had a docent meeting Monday, April 3. She went over rules with the people present. It was suggested that an easel be provided at each tour home with rules posted on it. Cathrine and Terri reviewed list of docents. Cathrine gave names of docents that had been assigned to each tour home.
Cathrine and Terri met with Owen Schofil at his home on Hickory and 7th, to tour his home and decided on the flow pattern for touring. The Culpeppers are providing the docents needed at their home at 429 E. 6th Avenue.
If docents do not have costumes, they will wear white tops with black bottoms, (skirts or pants). Docent training will be done. The docents will preview their assigned home. History Boards will be posted at each home. Anyone having an easel please get it to Cathrine.
HOME SELECTION: Doug announced that we have one additional home being added to the tour: the "Beech House", 700 S. Juniper, owned by Harry and Trish Parashis. The committee was delighted to have the home added and comments were made about next year considering raising the price of our tour. The other homes remain the same:
649 E. 5th Ave
425 E. 5th Ave
429 E. 6th Ave
706 Hickory (& 7th)
Booties will be used at the "Beech House" and we will also use them at the other homes this year. Doug reported he has all the booties being donated by Dr. Joan Meyer.
TICKETS AND PROGRAMS: Carol reported the advertising has paid the programs and we have had to add 4 additional pages to the booklet. Printer is getting ready and should have tickets available no later than
2 weeks from now. If approved by the Board, Board members and committee members can have tickets assigned to them. Anyone taking tickets would be responsible for the money owed. They in turn can disburse them to anyone, but again are responsible for all money due.
Fliers will be posted all over in Escondido as well as other areas. They should be done in a week or two.
ConnieSue will get an "Interest List" to Carol Rea.
PUBLICITY: Everything has been done that needs to be done.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Lori has been taking pictures of the homes. Pictures are not allowed to be taken in the homes during the tour for security reasons. Lori needs a badge identifying her as the official photographer for the Home Tour. She would like to get pictures of homes with their owners.
HOME LIAISON: Carol is in charge of nametags.
Everything is being done with the theme we are using.
Cathrine requested having house numbers on the docent’s nametags. She will do that.
HOME HISTORIES; Histories are completed for each home.
LOGISTICS: Doug will order chairs and tables needed for the refreshment area. Two or perhaps 3 porta pots will be ordered as well as a sink. They will be placed in the alley by the "Beech House".
REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments will be served at the "Beech House". Still need volunteers to bake cookies.
It was decided instead of a lunch being provided for volunteers, a "snack sack" consisting of fruit, granola bar, and/or other snacks will be provided.
Lynn and Peggy will decide this. Lynn, assisted by Carol, made up a flier she and Peggy will distribute throughout the neighborhood, for cookie volunteers.
Shift times for volunteers to serve refreshments are:
11:00 AM – 1:30 PM and 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. Lemonade and ice tea will be served.
OTHER BUSINESS: The celebration/thank you party will be Saturday, May 20 at the Eagleson’s home, starting at 4:00 PM. Peggy and Lynn will be in charge of food.
It was decided to have Mexican food.
Please keep Joyce in your thoughts and prayers for a good recovery. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
Respectively submitted,
Peggy Williams, Recording Secretary
