OLD ESCONDIDO MOTHERS DAY HOME TOUR MEETING
MARCH 7, 2006 MINUTES
Connie Sue Dickinson called meeting to order at 7:00 PM at the Circle of Quiet Bed and Breakfast. Members present were Dick Althouse, Carol Rea, Peggy Williams, Carol Breitenfeld and Lori Tilsdale
The following subcommittee reports were given:
DOCENTS: ConnieSue reported that Terri indicated that she would not be attending meetings. Catherine is in the process of getting her house ready to move and has not accomplished much since the last meeting. They have both assured ConnieSue that they will be ready. It was asked if “House Mothers” had signed up yet.
HOME SELECTION: The homes remain the same:
649 E. 5th Ave
425 E. 5th Ave
429 E. 6th Ave
706 Hickory
TICKETS AND PROGRAMS: Carol reported that several other businesses have committed to placing an ad in the Home Tour brochure. She presented a proposed cover for the brochure and ticket. Everyone was very much in favor of her proposals.
PUBLICITY: Carol is sending out calendar items. She submitted a flier that she designed. (Everyone loved it.) A National Historic Preservation Proclamation is to be presented before Council. And she has submitted an ad to the Bungalow Magazine.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Lori reported she has taken pictures of the 4 homes on tour. These homes are on the web site and Carol was given a disk with the pictures to be used in the brochure.
HOME LIAISON: Carol had sample artwork she submitted for silk screening on the banners, which will be placed in front of the tour homes.
HOME HISTORIES; Lucy Berk has done the research on 2 of the houses: 429 E 6th and , 425 E 5th and of the homes
LOGISTICS: Plans are still in place for tables, chairs and the renting of 2 Portable toilets.
REFRESHMENTS: Joyce will give List of cookie donors to Lynn and Peggy. We are waiting on call back from Owen if we can use his home on Hickory for refreshments.
Announcement was made about the SOHO Craftsman Spanish Revival Tour. It is March 10-12 in the Point Loma area. Tickets are $30.00. Several members are planning on attending.
ConnieSue reported on Joyce Koppelman’s recent fall. She is at Redwood Terrace Health Center, 710 West 12th Avenue, Room 509. If anyone has a moment, she would love to have a visitor or just send her a card,
